Thank You For Your Service!
Armed Forces Day is coming up this Saturday, May 15th and we wanted to take this opportunity to show our gratitude to all of the men and women who have dedicated their lives, sacrificed, and some even perishing in order to preserve our liberties.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy established Armed Forces Day as an official holiday. But it was the idea for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country that President Harry S. Truman originally led the effort to establish this single holiday. The one-day celebration then stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense in 1949.
On May 15th, we pay tribute to the military personnel serving in the United States Armed Forces. I pay special tribute to my father and my better half that served for many years and experienced atrosities I will never have to because of that service. Thank you! The words seem so pale in comparison to the task, but they are deeply heartfelt by myself and many others.
If you have someone in your life that is or has served our country, give them a big hug and express your gratitude for what they have given to preserve our freedoms!
