4th of July - Our Independence Day
We all had the lesson in school, but truly, how many of us listened intently and deeply understood what had to happen in order for our country to achieve independence? The struggle was actually real and lasted years between the colonists and the British. For one of the best little quick synopsis I have seen that gives the facts, but doesn't drone on or get complicated about it, check out this little snippet: https://nationaltoday.com/independence-day/
In the end, the beginning of what is America today was born and I couldn't be more grateful for it! I love that we are a melting pot of different ethnicities and cultures that have come to this land to seek the same freedoms that many of us were born into. I have traveled some and seen the poverty and the control in other countries. I cannot imagine not having the ability to speak my mind or wear what I chose. I do not take it for granted.
This land is your land. This land is my land. As we come upon this treasured holiday weekend, remember that we have so much to be grateful for!
